Finding The Right Venue

Sharing with you in this post, is the long time overdue Chocolate Almond & Quinoa Skillet Cookie I posted on Instagram a while ago. Yes i finally got myself to write it out … But tell me this … are you …
Planning A Memorable Wedding Reception ?

Did you start planning your perfect wedding long before you met  the man you intend to marry. You might envision your dress, color scheme, wedding party, and other details of your  big day. When your  soul mate comes along, you will be ready to flesh out the details of what the day will really be like.

The wedding ceremony is the only crucial  component of a wedding, but most young couples plan for a series of events before and after the ceremony  that  require  planning, rehearsing, and then more planning. After attending to the all important wedding dress, complemented by bridesmaid dresses for the friends  in the wedding party, you and your prospective mate should turn your attention to the wedding reception – the first feast of your married life. What will it be like?

Planning The Perfect Reception For Your Budget

When you focus your attention on the reception that is to follow your ceremony, do you plan on having an extravagant feast for your family and friends? Or will cake and a few other snacks be your menu? What types and brands of alcohol will be served for those looking to enjoy the occasion with a couple of drinks?

Your wedding budget should be the major driver of the type of reception you have. If you are getting married right out of high school or college, your parents of the groom’s parents  might  kick in a sizeable portion of the cost. If you and you groom are more established in jobs, more of the cost might fall on you. You must then decide what you can afford from available funds or from money you borrow. If you do not want to be paying for your wedding in the future, it’s best to adjust your  guest list and reception menu what you can afford.

Cost aside, there are several considerations in choosing the proper venue for your reception.

If you are having your reception at a different place than the ceremony, is the venue close to the church, or other site of your ceremony? If the two  locations are miles apart, plan on providing guests with the map. Better yet, have buses available to  drive  them to distant venues; this is a particularly good idea if you will be serving  alcohol at your reception.
Will  the venue hold the number of guests you are planning to invite? Is there ample accessible parking  at the church and  reception site? How is the traffic you will be facing both coming and going from the event? Are there businesses close by that could create distraction or interfere with your plans?
Whether you want a local or  destination wedding that will take place outdoors, what is your easy-to-activate backup plan if bad weather weather or other circumstances beyond your control interfere with your plans?

Planning Your Menu

The menu you select for your wedding reception can be a memorable part of the day  for guests. For a big budget wedding, you might offer guests a high-end menu  including expensive entrée options such as filet or lobster, but even if your budget is small, you can still have excellent food.

Whether you use the caterers  at the venue or your own caterer, discuss your budget with them. By selecting a menu of appetizers and desserts rather than a buffet or sit down dinner, you may be able to  maximize your  dollars so that you can expand your guest list. Your caterer can tell you the cost per person for different options. Once you decide the type of food you want to serve,  your caterer is likely to set up a tasting  so that test and hone your menu.

Your budget does not need to limit your creativity. Even if you need to keep costs low, you can work with your caterer to put your personal stamp on the wedding. You could, for example:

Plan your wedding at a time when guests will not expect a meal.
Offer regional or ethnic foods as appetizers guests will remember.
Plan a dessert bar or candy buffet (see more here) to offer sweet treats
Limit your beverage selection to soft drinks and beer or wine rather than hard alcoholic beverages to contain costs if need be.

The purpose of your reception is to bring people together to celebrate your marriage. Music and dancing, laughter and crying, and family members you haven’t seen in way too long caball be a part of the mix regardless of what you serve to eat.

Consider hiring a wedding planner to handle the details, especially if you have busy schedule. With careful planning,  you can have the wedding of your dreams, even if the specifics are different than what you dreamt of as a child.

And while you’re planning that wedding I’m sure you’re watching what you’re eating too … to get in shape for the big day. Yet you need comforting food to de stress you, time to time. Well the cookie is here to your rescue. It ticks all the boxes from having all the healthy ingredients, to being healthy  to being super easy to make.

Guiltfree Chocolate Almond & Quinoa Skillet Cookie;

I’ve used soft boiled Quinoa in here and it adds a surprising crush / bite to the cookie. Do make sure the quinoa is boiled a little more than you would for your salad. As they do tend to toast on baking, so a soft one would toast to a pleasant bite and the al dente would would be hard to bite. If this makes sense to you.
